The Sun Valley Performing Arts/nexStage Theatre has provided a permanent, ongoing venue for local performers since 2000. The organization stages quality, professional and semi-professional performances of music, dance and theatre, and enriches the community by offering educational performing arts programs to local families. Among their many functions, this non-profit group produces five ongoing annual events. For young aspiring actors, The Summer Performance Workshop for Young Artists is a summer day camp that runs for three weeks (July 5-21) and the C.A.S.T (Children’s Afterschool Theatre) program provides quality theater education during the school year. The 7th Annual Sun Valley Shakespeare Festival takes place in August. This year, the main stage play “The Comedy of Errors” will be presented in Forest Service Park in Ketchum, August 24-25 and August 31-September 3. The festival will also feature The Sun Valley Renaissance Faire on August 26-27 on the Sun Valley Festival Meadows. The nexStage Theatre also presents a free, bi-monthly play reading series and a community-oriented Halloween Ball each year. The Sun Valley Performing Arts/nexStage Theatre is located at 120 South Main Street in Ketchum. The nexStage has 264 seats, excellent theatrical lighting and sound systems, and is available to rent for special events, conferences, and lectures.
