Since 1978, the Sun Valley Ballet School has been dedicated to cultivating an appreciation, understanding, and love of the ballet, as well as all other forms of dance, for children and adults. In addition, this non-profit sponsors ballet and dance productions that provide education and performance opportunities for students, faculty and guest artists.
To give students the chance to perform in a professional ballet atmosphere, the Sun Valley Ballet School presents one full-length ballet, such as “Nutcracker”, “Alice in Wonderland”, or “The Wizard of Oz” each year. Advanced students have an opportunity to dance with a professional guest artist in this production.
A short, narrated ballet is also performed annually. Free of charge for all Blaine County elementary grade school students, it is presented at the nexStage Theatre so that the children can experience ballet with all the sets, scenery and lighting of a professional production.
At the conclusion of each school year, the end-of-the-year “Showcase” gives each student, from three years of age on, an opportunity to perform.
