The Community Library in Ketchum is dedicated to nourishing the minds, intellects, and spirits of all by providing access to information and support for personal growth and development in a safe and welcoming environment. Its vision is to be a valued community center where Wood River Valley residents and visitors can enrich their lives.
The library, located at 415 Spruce Avenue in Ketchum, is open to the public Monday through Saturday, and until 9pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. It has a full and modern reference department, Internet access, and word processing stations for the public. The Regional History Department has 665 oral history tapes, 9,300 photographs, 160 videos, and many other materials that tell the history of our area. There is also a full Children’s Library that provides instruction for school children on how to use a library. The Library’s Lecture Hall has regular programs with events, author lectures, and a Great Writer’s series.
This non-profit organization receives no tax dollars from federal, state, county, or city funds, but is supported solely by special donations, an annual fund drive, grants, and income from The Gold Mine, a Ketchum store that sells donated clothing, sports equipment and household items. The library also produces a popular home tour each summer (with the exception of 2005), a major fund-raising event.
