The Art of Dance Foundation nurtures innate creativity through dance and movement. The Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2000, offers dance and movement programs for children and adults, including a conservatory-level ballet academy and educational programs for young children. The Ballet Academy gives students ages three and older a unique opportunity to participate in a conservatory-level program that encourages the connection between body and mind by creating an atmosphere in which each student can experience the pure joy of movement. The program places emphasis on perfecting technique while exposing students to the beauty and musical nature of dance. Creative movement classes focus on personal expression and generating an awareness of the body-mind connection. Among the offerings are Nia (Neuromuscular Integrative Action), MMM (a version of Nia designed for children), and tumbling. The Foundation believes these programs have a profound effect on the educational, creative and emotional development of children. Children who express themselves through movement generally make more progress in other areas of development. The Art of Dance Foundation programs are offered on and off site to build upon and enhance other educational experiences.
